Cesc Fábregas tells Spain team-mates he is leaving Barcelona

Fabregas and Pique

Gerard Piqué has been caught on camera apparently telling Spain coach Vicente del Bosque that Barcelona team-mate Cesc Fábregas is poised to leave the side.

Fábregas returned to boyhood club Barca in 2011 after an eight-year stint at Arsenal and he has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, withChelsea reportedly keen to sign the 27-year-old midfielder.

Appearing together at a promotional event in Washington, where Spain are preparing the defence of their World Cup crown, Piqué and Del Bosque were recorded apparently discussing Fábregas and a move away from Barca for a fee of €33m (£27m).

“He [Fábregas] told me that it is already done,” Piqué says. “He is leaving already, €33m he said,” adds the centre back, who came through the youth ranks with Fabregas and is a close personal friend of his.

Fábregas returned to Barca just as Pep Guardiola’s stunningly successful side was starting to lose its lustre and he has never fully won over the demanding Nou Camp fans despite scoring and creating plenty of goals.

The Catalan club are trying to rebuild after they ended the 2013-14 season without major silverware and coach Gerardo Martino quit and was replaced by former Barça and Spain midfielder Luis Enrique.{Guardian}

Barcelona know Koke will stay at Atletico’ – Cerezo | INFORMATION NIGERIA

Barcelona know Koke will stay at Atletico Cerezo

Posted by: @femi4arsenal on June 5, 2014

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists Barcelona are wasting their time with efforts to sign midfield star Koke.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of Barcas primary transfer targets this summer following an exemplary season with Diego Simeones title-winning side.

Koke himself admitted he was proud to hear of interest from Camp Nou, though he was keen to stress he is happy at the Vicente Calderon, and Cerezo has now made it clear that the club have no plans to sell the Spain international.

He is our player and he will continue with us. They know that very well, he told Foro Nuevo Murcia.

We are not a selling club. We are a stable club. And I insist: Koke wants to play for Atletico, he is our franchise player and will continue a Rojiblanco. Theres nothing else to add.

Barca have also been linked with a move for central defender Miranda, who was another key performer in Atleticos march to the Spanish title and Champions League final, but Cerezo is confident both the Brazilian and centre-back partner Diego Godin will also stay.

Its very hard today to find a defensive pairing like Miranda and Godin, almost impossible. I believe that, as with Koke, they will continue here, he said.

However, Cerezo did indicate that full-back Filipe Luis who has been linked with Chelsea could be allowed to move should he tell the club he wishes to leave and an offer is made which matches his release clause.

Atletico are reported to have agreed a €10 million fee with Granada for Guilherme Siqueira, who spent last season on loan at Portuguese treble-winners Benfica, a player Cerezo admits he admires.

If you have to leave and you want to go, I refer you to the clause, he added.

Siqueira has been spoken about as a possible substitute. Siqueira is a good player. If someone goes we will try to bring in someone better.{GOAL}

Ibrahimovic: No one will ever be better than Ronaldo

Posted by: @femi4arsenal on June 5, 2014

Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes football will never see a better player than former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo.

Ronaldo dubbed El Fenomeno during his glittering playing career won 13 titles at club level as well as two World Cups with Brazil in 1994 and 1998.

Ibrahimovic has faced the likes of namesake Cristiano Ronaldo during his own stellar career to date, but he insists the World Cups record goalscorer remains the greatest he ever played against.

The best opponent of my career? Ive played against many, many good players, so I dont know who to keep. But I would say Ronaldo, El Fenomeno. Why? Because he was my idol and because, as a football player, he was complete, he told Sports Illustrated.

There will never, in my view, be a better player than him.

Ronaldo, who scored more than 350 goals in just over 500 club games during a career badly affected by injury problems, retired from football in 2011. {GOAL}

No one wants any [injury to] occur, we are all being very careful of that, but we still all want to win, do our best, play seriously and I believe we have done that.
